Traces of the templars in Aveyron

You will find many Templar remains in Aveyron. The Larzac is the centre of their landed property. The Commandery of Sainte Eulalie is the most important establishment of the Order in the whole of the South of France.
On the plateau, the Knights of the Temple own considerable pastureland around the farms. From there on, their possessions extend upstream from the Cernon spring : to St Rome de Cernon, Roquefort, Tournemire. Towards Saint Affrique, they also own the Lauras farmhouse. The Cavalery is one of the great centre of the Templars who will then fortify the city and build a church.
The Couvertoirade is also an important fortification. To the West of the plateau, they own the Viala du Pas de Jaux and Saint Paul de Fons as well as houses in Millau and Creissels.
They have made their mark as far back as the 12 th century towards the Rance river : In Monteils, they own the Notre-Dame Church, the Saint-Sernin Church as well as some land.
